Frequently Asked Questions
What is in CBD oil?
All COHP’s chosen products are made from organic materials, however, may not be specifically certified as organic.
The construct of all our featured oils is a full plant CO2 extraction method using multiple base oils from olive oil to MCT oil as carriers, our chosen products contain a range of cannabinoids which one considers to be an entourage. As we display only our top featured brands through our vigorous multi-point inspection process, our chosen few are of the highest quality that we have researched within the UK. CBD is generally in a much higher concentration than the other cannabinoids such as CBDV, CBDA, CBG, and the minute trace elements of CBGA, CBN, CBC. But all our oils are full spectrum or broad spectrum rather than a simpler CBD isolate which we feel does not offer as many benefits and positive effects as the full cannabinoid spectrum. Is CBD legal in the UK?
Short answer YES! CBD is 100% legal for use in the UK. So long as it meets certain criteria and conforms to all UK laws regarding the sale of CBD as a food supplement and not contain more than 0.2% of its legal levels of THC.
The UK Government provides a factsheet for CBD, which you can access by clicking on this link.
What Is the Recommended Dose?
The Majority of People start on an average of around 10% sublingual oil dependant on the brand they choose. Adding 1 to 3 drops under the tongue and holding it there for at least 30 seconds. This will absorb into the blood vessels under the tongue allowing a direct entry point to the blood stream. To ensure there is no reaction, it is advised to start with just the 1 drop. You can then increase the amount slowly over a period of 1 to 2 days to rulre out any possibility that there is no reaction.
The evidence on allergic reactions is unheard of but with CBD still being in the earlier stages, we recommend this method just to be safe.
There is no right or wrong time of the day to take CBD. This is something you can experiment with over time; how many drops you require and when to take a dose.
Depending on your need for the CBD, it could be taken in the morning and on the evening and if required, with a top up during the day.
For people who are already CBD users, you may wish to go straight for a higher strength and take 3-4 drops a dose to start with.
The Food Standards agency (FSA) advise against taking more than 70mg of CBD per day.
At COHP we always recommend starting with a small or medium dose which you can gradually increase to find your desired affect or decrease if you experience any side effects.
Are these products psychoactive and will they get me high?
The quick answer to this… No!
Although some of the products may contain a trace element of the substances such as THC, which are psychoactive, if purchased from a reputable dealer these are only minute traces and will not leave you feeling high.
It has however, been reported that many consumers have experienced a slight high on their first ever consumption or occasionally when increasing their strength for the first time. This does not usually continue beyond this.
Can you use CBD oil while taking other medicine?
Using CBD whilst taking other prescribed medication does not generally interfere with other meds. However, it is always advisable to check with your doctor if you are taking prescribed medication and plan to take CBD.
At COHP we will usually give warning of the ‘Grapefruit Test/warning’ before selling our CBD to customer’s instore. This is where, a medical guide (leaflet) found within a prescription that is provided from your doctor may advise you against eating grapefruit whilst taking certain medication. In this case we would advise that it may be best to stay away from CBD until you are advised by a medical expert that there is no longer need for taking such medication. You can find more information about this here.
How long will a 10ml bottle of sublingual oil last?
A 10ml bottle of sublingual oil should last around a month with the average person using 1-3 drops 2-3 times a day.
Can you travel abroad with CBD?
CBD is legal for personal use in most European countries and also many other countries around the world, however, we strongly advise you to do your own due diligence regarding the laws in the country you are visiting.
